The Bathroom is Finally DONE!!!

New cabinet I had build using reclaimed wood, so it would look old.

Repainted all the wood work white and all the hinges and pulls silver

My newly pintrest worthy pantry!!

My pantry has been a hot mess and I saw a cool idea on pintrest to take everything out of the jars and boxes and put it in Mason Jars. I don't know if I have mentioned in my blog before that my mother is a former antique dealer. She is retired and is now basically a hoarder. So a quick trip to her house, a couple of thrift stores and some chalk and chalkboard paint and. . .

I still need to get ribbon for the scoop on one of the jars and I will be painting the walls but it is so much easier to find stuff and I love the way the jars look!

A bit on the downstairs bathroom!

This is the bathroom after they took down the awful paneling that was in there. WOW was it way worse than I had imagined. Add to the crumbling walls the fact that the previous owner ran the duct work behind where the medicine cabinet should be, and I had a fine mess on my hands!

It still is not quite done but should be by the end of tomorrow.

Another issie in the bathroom was the disgusting looking hinges and knobs, not wanting to spend a lot of money I thought I would give spray paint a try!!

Of course after I painted them in silver I found a slightly darker shade but as I was over half done, I let it go!

Wow it's been a while!!

So man things have changed and lots have stayed the same. Unfortunately a few areas have reverted back! EEK!!!

On the positives:

House is painted on the exterior!! I went with burnt orange on the siding, yellow trim and deep red on the windows. The porch floor is what my lovely boyfriend calls, calf shit brown.


The open porch has become a neighborhood fixture. At night when I sit on the porch people will stop and chat for a few minutes, or more have a drink (again, or more ;)) and it has really made me feel more part of the neighborhood!

I have been busy!

I realize that it is no excuse but, I have been really busy. the porch is open, half the house has been stripped sanded and painted, I bought a new to me storm/screan door and stripped it, getting ready to paint it, etc. I have pics on my phone but no idea how to get them on here. I will ask the kids for help so the one person who follows will see the progress! It's late and I have to work in the morning. . .good night!

Stripping Paint . . . a better way!!

Have gotten alot of paint off the house in the past two days and am still feeling sain. How is that possible you say, I hired someone to do it. The up side to a down economy, realy great time to find handy guys that work for cash!!!
